San Luis Obispo has been a significant location for movie and commercial production since the 1920’s. The beaches and sand dunes became the desert in Cecil B. Demille’s “The 10 Commandments” back in 1923. (Props are still being recovered to this day). The incredible pools of Hearst Castle® became ancient Rome in significant scenes of “Spartacus”. The forests and fields became the jungles of Vietnam in the Mel Gibson movie “We Were Soldiers Once.” The charming towns became classic middle America in Steve Martin’s “My Blue Heaven” and Sandra Bullock’s “Murder By Numbers”.
