Beginners (and even not-so-beginners) enjoy kayaking the protected inlet of the Morro Bay / Estero Bay estuary. Or for the more adventurous, kayak along the rugged coast between Morro Bay and Cambria.
Bring your own kayak. Or rent one from one of the many local shops that provide them. Kayak rentals are available in Avila Beach, Cambria, Cayucos, Pismo Beach, and Morro Bay.
It is even possible to hire a local company to guide you.
When kayaking, look for the harbor seals, sea lions, sea otters and literally dozens of species of birds. In Morro Bay, you can also kayak over to the nearby dunes that stretch from the entrance to the Montana de Oro State Park. Leave your kayak, bring a picnic lunch and hike to the far side of the dunes and discover a beautiful sandy beach all to yourself…
